Correctional Medical Officers | Victoria

About the Role
We’re seeking GPs to deliver primary healthcare in correctional centres alongside experienced nurses, allied health, and support staff. These are structured, multidisciplinary environments where your clinical skills are highly valued and well-supported.


Locations include:

• Southwest of Melbourne – ~45 minutes from the CBD
• Western Victoria – near Beaufort (~2 hours from Melbourne)
• Central Victoria – Castlemaine region (~90 minutes from Melbourne)

No previous experience in correctional health is necessary - just a strong clinical foundation, good communication skills, and a commitment to quality care.



Availability
Shifts are open from November with flexibility across weekdays and weekends.

You choose your dates-many locations are flexible with the day you attend, making it easy to fit into your existing schedule.


What You’ll Get

• Excellent hourly rates:
• $150/hr – Medical Officer
• $180/hr – Senior Medical Officer (FRACGP/FACCRM)
• + $30/hr for MATOD
• Travel reimbursement – 88c/km for regional travel
• Full support – We manage credentialing, logistics, and compliance
• Stable hours – Most shifts run 9:00am–5:00pm

What You’ll Need

• Current AHPRA registration
• RACGP Fellowship (preferred, not essential)
• OSTP approval (required for some dates – we can assist)
• Medical indemnity insurance
• At least 5 years post-grad experience
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Experience in mental health, emergency medicine, or AOD is a bonus—but not required.
• Complete full credentialling as per client requirements - includes WWCC and FIT2WORK.
